Project Summary:
Aims:
The NUT aims to help teachers, in England and Wales, to use strategies in the classroom which create an environment in which students are able to broaden their knowledge and understanding, particularly with regard to: globalisation, human rights, solidarity, interdependence, peace, and international development.
Expected Results:
The NUT CPD programme is open to all teachers (NUT members and others). Pairs of teachers, from the same school or different schools, attend a two-day initial seminar with leading-edge tutors; they then try out new approaches/strategies in their classrooms; and then attend a review/share/disseminate two-day follow-up seminar about 12 school weeks’ later.
Working Methods:
During the initial seminar, the participants are also taught about peer coaching and they are then expected to use this to support each other during the school-based weeks of the course. Participants may be teachers of any subject and in this pilot for 11-14 year olds pairs from across traditional subject boundaries.
Number of Participants:
24
Target group:
Secondary school teachers
