Project Summary:
Aims:
• Strengthen SNEAB as an organization and increase its visibility and credibility and to increase its financial autonomy
• Increase the active participation of women members in the activities and leadership of the union.
Expected Results:
• Progress towards financial autonomy (recovery of 95% of dues from its members)
• Increased office efficiency
• Increased active and dues-paying membership
• SNEAB leadership and members better informed about trade union movement in Africa and Burkina Faso, SNEAB structure and operations, SNEAB achievements, trade union rights, union finances, involvement of women teachers in the union, Millennium Development Goals, Citizenship Education, HIV, AIDS and STD in the schools
• Better trade union leadership performance by SNEAB local representatives
• Teacher leaders contribute to quality education
• More active participation of women in local sections and at national level, increased awareness of gender issues and improvement in the quality of life of women teachers and increased leadership capacity of women teachers.
Working Methods:
• Recruitment visits in 30 sections per year
• Leadership training and professional development workshops (2 per year) Leadership seminar for women leaders
Number of Participants in this country: 900 trainees
Target group: SNEAB members and potential members
Gender Perspective: Integrated in program
Recent updates: Being implemented as planned, with gradual decrease in CTF funding.
