Project Summary:
Aims:
• Support AIPTF in its efforts to improve quality of public education for all in India
• Enhance the image and visibility of AIPTF
• Gain recognition of AIPTF’s role by government, national and state bodies
• Increase the Indian teachers’ pride in their profession
Expected Results:
• Improved quality of teaching by enriching the subject content knowledge of teachers in relation to the curriculum prescribed by the local education authority
• Teachers acquainted about their role in organization of curricula, use of teaching aids and applications of teaching techniques
• Enhanced image of AIPTF and state units as organizations concerned with the professional welfare of their members and the quality of education offered to the children in India
• Teachers have guidelines for the constant development of educational competencies and skills to enable primary teachers to do their professional job more effectively
• Active Professional Development and Resource centre at national level, producing material and research and offering training for AIPTF members
Working Methods:
• National and State-level planning meetings
• With the assistance of Canadian Inter-Action resource persons, development of a cadre of resource persons who are responsible to provide professional development training at the district level
• Resource Centre program
• Development of resource material
• District Level Training Seminars
• Regular evaluation meetings
Number of Participants in this country: Approximately 500 teachers per year
Target group: Primary teachers
