Project Summary:

Aims:
Training for unqualified primary school teachers in line with the school reform as integrated in the Mozambican Government Five-Year Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Education and Culture

Expected Results:
• Approximately 180 teachers per year participated in 6 workshops in northern provinces
• Cadre of local resource persons developed
• Training modules developed
• Teaching approaches for approximately 180 teachers per year changed through workshops
• Capacity of ONP strengthened, membership increased
• National EFA planning and implementation reflect contribution from ONP as an on-going voice of civil society in education
• Greater understanding of ONP’s role in dynamics of education and development in Mozambique;
• Participating teachers better equipped to implement the reform in their classrooms

Working Methods:
• Workshops for Mozambican trainers and teachers
• Canadian Inter-Action teachers active as facilitators and co-tutors
• Development of teaching materials using local resources

Number of Participants in this country: Approximately 180 teachers per year and growing

Target group: Under-qualified primary school teachers in northern Mozambique

Gender Perspective: Integrated in program
