Project Summary:

The National Union of Education and Culture (SNEC) has been working on the EFAIDS Programme since 2006. Since the beginning of the programme SNEC has trained over 20,000 teachers in almost 5,000 schools. SNEC was involved in the former HIV Prevention Programme from 2002 to 2005.

Activities in 2008

Training was the core work carried out by the National Union of Education and Culture (SNEC). A total of 3,500 teachers were trained in 620 schools through the cascade model.

Within the framework of the union regional cooperation, the EFAIDS coordinator in Senegal, Mor Mbengue, assisted his colleagues from the ‘Syndicat National de l’Education et de la Culture’ (SNEC) in Mali in the organisation of a training of national trainers on the use of two EFAIDS publications developed in 2007 namely ‘’Building a Gender Friendly School Environment’ and ‘Inclusion is the Answer: Unions involving and supporting educators living with HIV’.
