Branimir Strukelj is currently a member of the EI Executive Board.
Born in 1957, Branimir read History and Art History before becoming a history teacher in an upper secondary school for ten years. He joined the Education and Science Trade Union of Slovenia (ESTUS) as a shop steward in 1990, the year when it was formed. Within six years, he became the President of the Regional Committee, then a member of the Executive Board, and later, General Secretary of the teacher union.
As a prominent member of the Slovenian trade union movement, Branimir often negotiates with the government on behalf of both ESTUS and other teacher unions. He actively takes part in discussions in parliamentary committees on education and labour legislation. He is also vice president of the Board of Pension Fund for Public Sector Employees.
