EI has 34 affiliates in 19 countries in the Latin American region. Among all EI regions, it is the most linguistically homogenous. Likewise, issues faced by the education sectors in different Latin American countries share many common features, such as the frequent violation of human and trade union rights, discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation and the education situation of indigenous peoples.
