Position: Co-ordinator: Education & Employment
Location: EI headoffice, Brussels
Role:
In collaboration with other EI staff and under the general supervision of the General Secretary and the Deputy General Secretary, the Co-ordinator for Education & Employment will:
- assist with the promotion of the principles and policies of Education International in relation to issues in education and employment;
- assist with the development of Education International policies and strategies on issues in education and employment,
- organize and co-ordinate relevant activities of Education International in relation to the issues in education and employment.
Duties:
- To assist with the planning and organization of Education International activities and programmes designed to promote education and employment policies and strategies at national and international level.
- To co-operate with other staff in providing advice and assistance to individuals and member organizations in relation to education and employment policy issues.
- To assist with training and development programmes designed to promote EI policies on education and employment.
- To provide advice and assistance to Education International member organizations in relation to the relevant education and employment issues.
- To provide administrative and organizational support, as required, to committees and other Education International structures which are engaged in activities designed to promote and develop EI policies on education and employment issues.
- To liaise with other national and international organizations and agencies which are involved in the relevant education and employment issues.
- To represent Education International, as required, in relevant fora at international level.
- To collaborate with the staff in Education International’s regional offices and provide technical and professional support to them in relation to the relevant education and employment issues.
- To provide analysis and reports on relevant activities and developments on an ongoing basis for the information of the Education International governing and other bodies and for use on the Education International website and in publications.
- To co-operate with other Education International staff in the provision of administrative and other services to the organization and, in particular, to assist with the organizational and administrative tasks in relation to the World Congress.
- To prepare and implement budgetary strategies for the implementation of relevant activities and submit financial reports, as required.
- To undertake such other appropriate tasks as are assigned from time to time.
Qualifications/Experience:
- A post-graduate university degree or equivalent in a related field.
- A minimum of five years working as a teacher and/or in a trade union or similar environment.
- Experience of working with, or membership of, a relevant national or international agency or organization would be an advantage.
- Ability to work in English is essential. A good working knowledge of French, Spanish and/or German would be an advantage.

Other information:
Salary and conditions of service will be in accordance with the arrangements agreed between Education International and its staff. Salary will be on a sixteen point incremental scale ranging from €52,108 to €80,532 per year, including bonus month and holiday pay. Initial appointment on the scale will be to a point based on relevant experience and qualifications. Appropriate insurances and a pension contribution will also be provided. The post-holder will be based in the EI Head Office in Brussels but the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities will require significant international travel. This is a new position and the appointment will be made, therefore, from an agreed date after the selection and appointment process is completed.

- All EI staff are accountable to the General Secretary, either directly or through designated staff members.
- If the needs of the organisation so require, staff members may be requested to perform appropriate duties related to another position, either on a temporary or permanent basis, provided that these duties correspond to the level of their position and that their professional experience and training is adequate.
