Eva-Lis SIRÉN was elected to the Executive Board of EI at its World Congress in July 2004 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
She was elected President of Lärarförbundet (Swedish Teachers’ Union) at its National Congress in 2001, and was re-elected in 2004.
Eva-Lis SIRÉN was born in 1954. She became involved in union activities when she commenced her professional career as a primary school teacher in 1975. She has since taught in primary education, specialising in pupils with special needs, and has effectively represented her colleagues in a number of posts within Lärarförbundet. In 1998, she was elected to the union’s Executive Board and three years later she became President of Lärarförbundet.
Lärarförbundet, a founding member of EI which hosted EI’s Statutory Congress in Stockholm in 1993, has 230.000 members at all levels of the Swedish education.
Eva-Lis SIRÉN is currently also a member of the National Executive Board of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO).
