José Campos Trujillo was elected to the Executive Board of Education International at the 5th World Congress in Berlin, 2007.
Campos Trujillo took up his first trade union responsibilities within Spanish EI affiliate the FECCOO in 1992. In 1997 he was elected General Secretary of the Teaching Federation of Andalusia, and in May 2004 General Secretary of the FECCOO.
Preferring negotiation to confrontation, Campos Trujillo is keen to achieve the objectives of EI: to improve the quality of the educational system and the working conditions of men and women working in the teaching profession.
As a representative of FECCOO and a member of the State Schools Council and the Universities Social Council, he has played an active part in the political debate on reforms to Spanish educational laws.
Campos Trujillo's international work has focused on the development of projects with Latin America that have enabled trade union organisations to influence educational reforms and policy through the exchange of experiences and good practice.
Campos Trujillo aims to place the unions of the Mediterranean on the international map and to continue his involvement with Latin American unions. He is convinced that trade unionism is a fundamental tool for the globalisation of social justice and human development.
Born in Malaga in 1960, Campos Trujillo has a degree in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Malaga.
