Entitled "Transparency, accountability and anti-corruption measures in education," the summer university will be held entirely in French in Paris from 20 Sep to 3 Oct. Following the publication of a study on "Corrupt schools, corrupt universities: what can be done?" by the IIEP in June 2007, the EI Executive Board mandated the Secretariat to integrate the issue of corruption as a working theme in all EI seminars and regional meetings. The Board also decided that a survey will be conducted through EI's member organisations to assess the level of corruption in the education sector worldwide. Passed at the 2001 World Congress, the EI Declaration of Professional Ethics is a blueprint for EI affiliates' own guidelines on professional conduct and responsibilities. It is complementary to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (1998) and draws on the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers (1966) and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) (1948).
