Dennis is a co-ordinator in EI's Education and Employment Unit. He is in charge of early childhood education, primary and secondary education programmes and related activities.
Born in Zimbabwe, Dennis obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Administration, Planning and Policy Studies from the University of Zimbabwe. He then pursued a Masters in the same area at the Zimbabwe Open University.
Dennis started his teaching career as a primary school teacher, a position in which he remained for 14 years. He Was also a part-time lecturer at the Zimbabwe Open University.
As an activist for teachers' rights, Dennis served on the National Executive Board of the Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (ZIMTA) for 9 years. He was also ZIMTA's Secretary General for 5 years. He spearheaded ZIMTA's HIV/AIDS Project and chaired the Programme's National Committee. He was a Board member of the local teacher training college, chairperson of the college's Academic Committee and a member of the Commission of Inquiry into Education and Training Implementation Task Force in Zimbabwe.
Dennis' work to improve the working conditions of teachers did not stop at the national level. He was an active member of Southern Africa Teachers' Organisation (SATO) as well as EI's African Regional Committee. He represented ZIMTA and EI in various fora, at both regional and international levels.
During his free time, Dennis enjoys playing sports such as soccer and cricket. He was the National Treasurer of the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe and a Board member of Matabeleland South Cricket Association.
