Emanuel A. Fatoma is Coordinator of Education International in the Africa regional office in Lome, Togo.
He joined the staff of IFFTU, the predecessor of EI, in 1990 after serving as head of department in a secondary school and later as Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Teachers Union.
As a result of the merger between IFFTU and WCOTP, he became Coordinator of EI in the Africa region from 1993.
Emanuel has also served in other capacities including as a Member of Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone for two terms of five years, and a member of the board of directors of several tertiary education and corporate institutions in his country. Between 2001 and 2005 he served in Brussels as the first full time coordinator of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE).
Emanuel holds a Higher Teachers certificate from the University of Sierra Leone, a Bachelors degree in Education from Sussex, UK and a Masters degree in Development Studies from The Hague in Netherlands.
Born in 1952 in southern Sierra Leone, Emanuel is married with two children.
