Education and Employment

As the global union federation representing teachers and education workers worldwide, Education International promotes and defends the rights and status of the teaching profession. EI also advocates for quality education for all, underpinned by the following core values:

• Quality education as a human right
• Education provided, funded and regulated by public authorities
• Inclusive education and equality in education and society
• High professional status for teachers and other education employees

EI supports and promotes the Education for All (EFA) targets and education Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) agreed by the international community in the year 2000.  EI also evaluates and reports on the situation of teachers’ rights around the world, and then submits a detailed report to the Joint ILO/UNESCO Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART) during its triennial meetings.
