For the record: Country reports
We aim to ensure that all governments include education at the centre of their plans for economic recovery and that investments in education include teachers, not only school infrastructure. Our interactive maps tell the story so that teachers in every country can keep one another informed. Are you on the map? Tell us about the situation in your country, and we'll post it here.

It is too early to see the impact of the global economic crisis on the education systems of the Middle East and North African region. However, a number of countries face a growing student population across all levels and governments are unable to sustain the cost of providing free education. Education quality in rural areas lags behind the standard in urban areas due to a lack of material and qualified teachers.
