Malaysia:

The northern Malaysian coastline and islands were among the most affected. The relief operations have now reached almost all those affected. Malaysia has not sought foreign relief support. There are makeshift camps in and around the most hard-hit areas. A number of national charities and NGOs have joined the government in collecting donations and providing relief. The NUTP, its local branches and members are active in relief operations. Malaysian charity and NGO organizations are providing relief support including medical services to the affected in Aceh, Indonesia.

Latest information on situation of education facilities, teachers and children: EI's Malaysian affiliate, the NUTP, reported that 2464 pupils were affected in four states. About 10 000 people lost their home and belongings, the children affected are now without school books and other study material. The NUTP has requested for financial assistance for this purpose. 2 children died in the disaster.
