At every World Congress, EI holds a gala dinner and dance, the highlight of which is the ceremony to grant the two prestigious EI Awards - the Albert Shanker Education Award and the Mary Hatwood Futrell Human and Trade Union Rights Award.

This year, the Awards Dinner will take place on 25 July at the Estrel Convention Centre in Berlin. The Albert Shanker Education Award is given to an outstanding teacher or education employee in recognition of his or her personal contribution to education, while the Mary Hatwood Futrell Human and Trade Union Rights Award is given to a unionist who has undertaken courageous and exemplary action to defend and promote human and trade union rights. Come and join us for this inspiring evening to celebrate consummate professionals and dedicated activists. The Awards Dinner is also the most prestigious social event of the World Congress. Many delegates turn up in their national dress, providing a spectacular display of colourful costumes from around the world. The evening includes a seated 3-course dinner with accompanying wines, live music and dancing.
