    No performance-related pay for teachers in The Netherlands

    The Dutch government announced today that it will no longer pursue plans to introduce performance related pay. Education Secretary Halbe Zijlstra has decided that the 80 million euro budget providing for performance pay experiments will be reallocated.

    Zimbabwe: education unions deplores use of temporary teachers

    The Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) and the Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (ZIMTA) have deplored the extended use of temporary contracts to hire teachers. The EI national affiliates have also advocated for students’ right to be taught in their mother tongue.
