published 1 July 2009 updated 1 July 2009

The Zambia National Union of Teachers held a 3-day Trainer of Trainers Workshop in Livingstone in early June. Organised to introduce participants to the updated EFAIDS resource, ‘Leadership in the HIV Response’ the workshop brought together regional EFAIDS Coordinators from each of the nine regions of the country.

National EFAIDS Coordinator, Frank Ndubeni, facilitated the workshop swith the support of Scott Pulizzi from the Education Development Center and Richard Etonu from EI Africa Regional Office. Frank Ndubeni emphasized the two pillars of the HIV and AIDS response as prevention and treatment, and urged participants to promote Voluntary Counseling and Testing.

Opening the workshop, new General Secretary of ZNUT, Newman Bubala renewed the union’s commitment to eliminating HIV and AIDS and promoting Education for All. He commented that through the EFAIDS Programme, the union had proved very effective in promoting HIV and AIDS education, working also in areas that the government found difficult to access.
