Susan Hopgood

Susan Hopgood is president of Education International, a federation of 383 member organisations in 178 countries and territories, representing 32 million teachers and education workers from pre-school to university.

She also served as the first woman Federal Secretary of the Australian Education Union from 2006 until May 2022. A former mathematics teacher, Hopgood was Vice-President of the Council of Pacific Education from 1998-2006.

As EI’s president, she represents the federation at the United Nations and other international forums to include the voice of teachers and other educators in policymaking aimed at providing free and equitable quality education for every student.
