José Olivera is president of the Federación Nacional de Profesores de Enseñanza Secundaria (FENAPES) of Uruguay. He is an assistant professor attached to the Directorate of Secondary Education and general coordinator of the Coordinadora de Sindicatos de la Enseñanza del Uruguay (CSEU). He is also a member of the National Directorate of the Workers’ Center PIT CNT and coordinator of the National Commission for the Referendum aiming to repeal 135 articles of the Emergency Law (LUC).
