Gabe Gooding
Gabe Gooding is the National Assistant Secretary of the National Tertiary Education Union. A scientist by training, she worked in universities for 25 years in laboratories and teaching prior to taking on full time union roles. Retiring in October 2026, Gabe can reflect on a career that has been dedicated to helping others and while she has had many achievements, she says the greatest one has been raising two compassionate feminist daughters.

Facts, truth and wisdom have been concerning me in recent times as we watch AI colonise the world. I fear we are losing our capacity to identify truth as we rush into a future where the algorithms present us ‘facts’ that may or may not be true.
