David Edwards: New Deputy General Secretary of Education International

Education International is pleased to announce that David Edwards will take up the position of EI Deputy General Secretary from 1 August.

David works as a senior policy analyst in the international relations team of EI’s largest member organisation, the National Education Association, in the USA. The NEA international relations team manages its membership in EI; articulates NEA’s policy in interna­tional forums, and maintains communica­tion with EI-affiliated national education unions around the world. The team also monitors and works with the United Nations, inter-governmental agencies, and international non-governmental organisa­tions on issues that affect children, education, the education profession, wom­en, as well as human and trade union rights. Prior to working with the NEA, David was an education specialist at the Organisation of American States; a project coordinator in Bolivia, and a teacher of German in Ohio. David has worked closely with EI in recent years in his role at the NEA. He was selected from a group of outstanding applicants. David lives currently in Maryland with his wife and three children. We wish him every success in his career with EI.
