ACEA Regional Conference

EI General Secretary David Edwards, EI staff and the EI Arab Countries Cross Regional Structure (ACCRS) committee and Arab unions participated in May 2018 in the Arab Campaign for Education for All (ACEA) Regional Conference, “Financing education 2030: revisiting the role of civil society” in the region of Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The conference was scheduled directly after the EI Arab Countries Cross Regional Structure (ACCRS) committee meeting from 30 April-1 May, to ensure the presence of EI affiliates at this conference.

At the ACEA conference, EI affiliates from 10 countries (Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia) shared experiences with international and regional civil society organisations. EI affiliates participated in a  panel entitled “The role of education teacher unions in accountability towards achieving Education 2030”.

In the framework of EI's work on SDG4, separate workshops have already occurred in the region in 2015 and 2016, and relevant EI publications were also translated and produced in Arabic.
