5th EI World Congress: Final confirmation of your delegation, amendments to resolutions and urgent resolutions

published 19 June 2007 updated 19 June 2007

Arrangements for the 5th EI World Congress in Berlin are being finalised. Over 1,600 representatives of member organisations have indicated that they will be in attendance at the Congress in the Estrel Convention Centre.

Confirmation of delegations

Because July is the peak tourist season in Berlin, Education International must provide Congress hotels with the final list of Congress participants by 22 June 2007. Each organisation should verify the details of its delegation to the 5th EI World Congress in its Organisation Login.

Please note that EI may cancel hotel bookings for participants who have not notified EI of their dates of arrival and departure. Please also note that the hotels may contact your organisation shortly to seek a credit card guarantee for the stay of your delegation. EI has provided that guarantee for all assisted delegates.

Amendments to resolutions and urgent resolutions

Amendments to the Resolutions for the 5th World Congress must reach the General Secretary not later than 17.00 hours, Western European Time, on 21st June, 2007. Amendments should specify the resolution reference number which is on top of each resolution and the paragraph number and/or letter, if applicable. Additions which do not refer to existing paragraphs of a resolution should be marked "addendum". All Congress resolutions were posted on the EI Congress website (http://www.ei-ie.org/congress5/en/, ‘Documents' section) on 20 April 2007.

Also, according to By-Law 9(d), "urgent resolutions, written in one of the four official languages, shall be submitted to and received by the General Secretary prior to the end of the opening session of the Congress. If exceptional events occur during a Congress, urgent resolutions on those events may be considered with the approval of two-thirds of the delegates present and voting. Urgent resolutions shall be translated and distributed to the delegates as soon as possible. The Resolutions Committee shall determine whether an urgent resolution is in order".
