Argentina: EI welcomes new law on free transport for HIV patients

published 20 March 2008 updated 20 March 2008

EI welcomes the recent law passed by the Buenos Aires authorities which will guarantee free transport for HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, and long-term cancer sufferers in the Argentine capital.

The local government will take it upon itself to negotiate with public transport companies to ensure that the law is implemented and patients can move around freely at no price.

EI fully welcomes this development, as it is positive news for the work currently being done in Argentina in the context of the ‘Education for All and HIV/AIDS Prevention’ (EFAIDS) programme run by EI and the Confederación de Trabajadores de la Educación República Argentina (CTERA).
