In the aftermath of yet another horrific attack that has robbed families of innocent lives in the face of democracy and freedom, Education International stands in support of its French affiliates and the French people.

“Education International offers its most sincere condolences to its French member organisations as well as to the entire French population,” said EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen in a letter of support to affiliates in France. “We hope that you find the courage, strength and solidarity needed to overcome this ordeal.”

The Bastille Day attack, which has so far taken the lives of at least 84 people and injured over a hundred more, “remind us , once again , that the fight against violence and extremism, for freedom, equality and fraternity must begin in our classrooms, our schools and our communities. More than ever, Education International supports you in this task , in this daily mission,” sad van Leeuwen to French colleagues.
