Description
Teacher trade unions in Zimbabwe are currently advocating for:
- increased funding for public education
- better salaries and improved working conditions for teachers
- teacher-pupil ratio
- restoration of respect and dignity for the profession through professionalization of the teaching profession
Objectives
The objectives of the project are the following:
- Government to fully fund education sector rather than the partial support to ensure that schools have adequate resources to run.
- Competitive salaries for teachers.
- Favorable working conditions of the educators.
- Manageable workloads for educators.
- Termy consultative meetings.
- The government to build suppotive mechanism towards educators' curriculum innovation and training.
- Professionalization and restoration of the dignity of the profession.

- Workshop and training sessions for union leaders and teachers
- Face to face meetings with Parliamentary Portfolio Committees
- Social media and digital campaigns
- Use of petitions and awareness marches
- Collaboration with teachers', parents and students
