Teacher salaries and working conditions - point out the importance of increased sustainable funding in education for decent and fair salaries of teachers and other education workers to attract and retain high-quality education professionals to teaching - monitor the implementation of the of collective agreements and existing legislation - ensure decent and healthy working conditions, classroom equipment and resources and the support generally available for teachers
  2. Infrastructure and Facility Upgrades - advocate for increased good public funding to improve the education infrastructure - ensure that all educational facilities in rural areas and cities provide a safe teaching and learning environment
  3. Equitable access to resources - ensure that all students whether in remote or city areas have access to good functioning schools, kindergartens and other education institutions and to ensure a good supply of the necessary teaching resources

Objectives

Key skills of trade union leaders that we aim to strengthen are:

  • Advocacy and Lobbying Skills: This entails training and developing our members in advocacy and how to effectively communicate their message to policymakers, school and/or community leaders, parents, and the public.
  • Negotiation, Bargaining and Mediation Skills to improve negotiations at state and local government levels, e.g. when the regional and local trade union leaders engage with policymakers, school and/or community leaders to advocate for well-resourced inclusive and equitable quality public education.
  • Research and analytical skills of staff across monitoring centres to ensure the implementation of projects is accurately assessed and documented; collecting relevant data related to education, education funding and education workers and analysing it is crucial and needs to be further developed in our country, helping our members to use evidence-based arguments to support the campaign's objectives is fundamental.
