Description

Cook Islands Teachers Union formally known as Cook Islands Teachers Institute was organized in the late 1940’s to early 1950’s. The current young and inspiring union leaders restarted CITU and got its union resumed its meetings and workshops to empower young unionist. The program aimed to revive CITU.

COPE provided the financial and technical assistance and supported needed for the revival of CITU.

Goals

The objective of the program is to revive and restructure the Cook Island Teachers Union.

Results

New executives committee and leaders were elected and appointed Constitution was revised and amended. New members were recruited. Increased in membership Members were well informed of their rights and responsibilities Members were informed of the important role the union plays and the importance of joining the union Strong union, women and youth network was re-established and operating. The union is now working on EI resolutions.
