Eric Rader

Eric Rader is the President of the Henry Ford Community College Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 1650, in Dearborn, Michigan, serving in this role since 2022. Rader is the chief negotiator for Local 1650. He has taught political science full time at Henry Ford since 2004. Rader earned a Ph.D. in political science from Wayne State University in 2004. He serves as a co-chair of the AFT’s Higher Education Program and Policy Council and is a member of the AFT’s AI Higher Education Task Force, Civil and Human Rights Committee and the LGBTQIA+ Task Force. In 2022, Rader was elected as an AFT Michigan Vice President, serving as a higher education representative on the Administrative Board of the Michigan affiliate of the AFT. He has been active in the Michigan AFL-CIO and Metro Detroit AFL-CIO for many years and is a member of the State Central Committee of the Michigan Democratic Party. From 2002-2004, Rader served on the policy staff of former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, focusing on education policy. Rader is a native of Springfield, Ohio.
