First regional higher education conference in Latin America
For the first time, EI higher education affiliates in the Latin American region have met in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia on 25-26 July 2013.
Following EI International higher education conference in Buenos Aires last year, representatives from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Brazil and Colombia met to discuss working conditions in the higher education sector, violations of academic freedom and freedom of association, commercialization of higher education, financing and internationalisation.
The meeting aimed to define a regional trade union strategy to improve working conditions in the sector and inform regional higher education policies. It will also reinforce affiliates in the higher education sector and engage them in the Latin-American pedagogical movement.
