Educators worldwide unite for quality education

published 8 October 2013 updated 25 October 2013

The eve of World Teachers’ Day, Oct. 4, saw the launch of Education International’s year-long Unite for Quality Education campaign, simultaneously at two events at UNESCO in Paris and UNICEF in New York.

The launch events brought together EI affiliates and partner organisations such as the Global Partnership for Education, the Global Education First Initiative, the UN Special Envoy for the Right to Education and the UN Special Envoy for Global Education, The Global Campaign for Education, and many more.

EI and partners renewed their commitment to quality education, and aim turning it this commitment into a broader movement, mobilising 30 million teachers and education professionals and uniting with parents and students, communities and governments, NGOs, international organisations and others, which share that vision, to demand that quality education for every student is made a reality.

“During this campaign year, we have a great opportunity to go beyond ambitious; to be bold, to challenge ourselves outside the bounds of traditional alliances, to recognize that working together, we have the power to change the world,” said Fred van Leeuwen, EI General Secretary.

Information about the campaign is available on the campaign hub, www.unite4education.org, which was also unveiled Friday. To follow discussions on social media, these channels are available:
