Application for Global Labour University programmes opened

published 6 January 2014 updated 8 January 2014

The Global Labour University (GLU) invites trade unionists and labour activists to apply for its Masters in ‘Labour Policies and Globalisation’ course offered by the University of Kassel and the Berlin School of Economics and Law in Germany, and the newly launched GLU Masters in ‘Labour and Global Workers’ Rights’ offered by Penn State University in the USA.

GLU is a collaboration of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), universities and trade unions. It offers postgraduate programmes on labour policies, economics, workers’ rights, globalisation and development to trade unionists around the world. Through GLU, applicants will become part of a global network of scholars and activists to debate and shape the future of the global labour movement.

The final deadline for applications is 1 March 2014.

EI encourages educators to apply

“EI supports GLU programmes and its goals since the GLU was founded,” said EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen. “We strongly encourage educator unionists from all over the world to apply and learn more about topics such as trade unions, sustainable development, social justice, international labour standards, multinational companies, economic policies and global institutions.”

EI particularly welcomes the fact that GLU promotes research cooperation on global labour issues, van Leeuwen added.
