Solidarity is our core value. When an emergency arises, Education International works together with affected member organisations to assess needs and provide support. We mobilise our global membership to act in solidarity, provide immediate assistance where possible, and initiate projects aimed at improving local conditions for our members.

Throughout the crisis, the Chad Teachers Union (SET, Syndicat des Enseignants du Tchad) has focused on listening to and supporting teachers. To this aim, the union carried out a large-scale survey to better understand the impact of the pandemic on teachers and to assess the effectiveness of distance learning.

Democracy 5 May 2021 Korea: EI Denounces discriminatory property registration system for teachers
The Korean Federation of Teachers Association (KFTA), a member organisation of Education International, reported that the Korean government is trying to impose new measures that would force teachers and other public servants to register their properties as well as those of their spouses, parents, children, and grandchildren with the authorities.

[Update] Education International is calling on workers and unionists to urge the Jordanian authorities to immediately stop harassing the leaders of the Jordanian Teachers Association (JTA) and threatening its very existence. At least 18 JTA teacher unionists were arrested in Irbid, Jordan on Monday 15 February.

Trade union rights are human rights 9 December 2020 Education International responds to terrorist attacks in Mozambique with support for member organisation ONP
On 9 December, Education International’s Executive Board adopted a resolution on terrorism in Mozambique and the need for international support and relief for teachers and other victims. The Education International member organisation, the Organizaçao Nacional dos Professores (ONP), has reported the recent assassination of six teachers.
