Global Action Week 2008 has arrived!

published 20 April 2008 updated 20 April 2008

Teachers' trade unions around the world are coordinating and participating in a huge variety of actions to show their support for quality Education For All.

United around the theme of "Quality Education to End Exclusion," students, teachers and politicians are coming together to participate in the 'World’s Biggest Lesson' on April 23. Many exciting country-specific activities are also planned. In Cyprus, the week coincides with National Children's Day, guaranteeing plenty of celebrations. In Ghana a children's drama is to be televised. In Argentina, public rallies and exhibitions take place nationwide, while in Albania a football match played between politicians and children will highlight the week. With so many events taking place, find out what's happening in your country and join the campaign for universal education. Education International acknowledges the commitment and enthusiasm of teachers' unions in the run-up to what is sure to be the most successful Global Action Week to date. Together, let us make the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 a reality!
