The SYNEDUC organized two activities:
- Capacity Building Leadership Training of School Representatives which will promote teachers’ rights at school and at national levels, through workshops and media.
- Gender Mainstreaming workshop for trade union members to increase awareness on gender issues among members and employers and to encourage women teachers to know their rights and fight for them.
Objetivos
Leadership Training:
- to promote and protect the rights of teachers in the private sector by ensuring fair salaries, job security, professional development opportunities, and a respectful working environment. This will be done through workshops in collaboration with Labor Inspectors and SYNEDUC leaders and contribute to the signing of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).
Gender Mainstreaming workshop:
- Combat gender-based violence through workshops, media and information (flyer) distribution to members.
- Lead an awareness campaign on ILO C190 targeting the members and owners of private schools in Rwanda through meetings, workshops, media and flyer distribution.
- Through labour inspectors, as close partners of the SYNEDUC, and the Labour Code Implementers reach new members from new private schools.
Actividades
Leadership Training: The participants in this Activity will be teachers (men and women) from 20 districts of Rwanda. The SYNEDUC will organize two 2-day workshops that will include 20 participants each.
Facilitators will include:
- SYNEDUC Leadership
- School Representatives
- Experts on gender issues
- Experts in law
Gender Mainstreaming: The program includes two 2-day workshops focused on gender mainstreaming for SYNEDUC members. The SYNEDUC will invite gender equality specialists as facilitators. During these workshops, participants will come together to discuss and become better informed on gender-based violence, gender equality and on the ILO C190 on violence and harassment in the workplace.
