Lograr el Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible 4

En 2015, todos los países se comprometieron a alcanzar 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible para el año 2030. La Internacional de la Educación ha desempeñado un papel fundamental en la consecución de un objetivo independiente en materia de educación, el Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible 4 (ODS 4): Garantizar una educación equitativa e inclusiva de calidad y promover oportunidades de aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida para todos. Cabe destacar que el ODS 4 reconoce que la educación de calidad solo puede ser impartida por docentes cualificados.

Sin embargo, al ritmo actual, los gobiernos no lograrán alcanzar el ODS 4. La pandemia de COVID-19 plantea retos adicionales y amenaza con revertir años de progreso en materia de educación. Es imperativo actuar con urgencia y decisión.

Estamos trabajando junto con nuestras organizaciones miembros de todo el mundo para garantizar que los gobiernos cumplan su promesa de alcanzar el ODS 4 y todas sus metas para el año 2030.

  • Supervisamos los progresos y exigimos responsabilidades a los gobiernos.
  • Abogamos por una mayor financiación nacional de la educación pública a través de una aplicación de impuestos justa y progresiva y de la ayuda internacional.
  • Nos oponemos a los intereses empresariales que tratan la educación como una mercancía en lugar de como un bien público accesible a todas las personas.
  • Promovemos una educación de calidad libre de violencia, que permita que los niños y niñas se desarrollen en su totalidad, que fomente la tolerancia, la comprensión, la democracia, el respeto de los derechos humanos y la ciudadanía activa para el desarrollo sostenible.
  • Promovemos la consecución de la "meta del personal docente" (meta 4.c), y hacemos hincapié en el derecho de todo el alumnado a ser enseñado por un docente formado y cualificado.
