Indigenous Peoples' rights

Campaigns

The education trade union movement stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and works to advance Indigenous rights in and through education but also more broadly in the world of work, in the fight for climate justice, land rights, decolonisation, and more.

The distinct cultures and languages of Indigenous Peoples, as well as their knowledge systems and relationship to the natural world profoundly enrich humanity and our collective heritage. They must be protected.

As educators we know that education systems have been – and in some contexts continue to be – developed in ways that stigmatise, exclude, and erase Indigenous Peoples, their identities, cultures, and knowledge systems. We are determined to right these wrongs and ensure education systems support and empower all Indigenous students, staff, and communities.
