She attributed the achievements that have already been made to the engagement of organisations like Education International (EI), which have significantly shaped the process.

“It used to be a system where the private sector was the driving force – from a reductionist and economist point of view,” she said. “All of the fights need to continue in order to be success.”

Croso also emphasised the importance of countering the commercialis ation and privati s ation of public services, and especially of education, in line with EI’s new campaign, The Global Response to the Privatisation and Commercialisation in and of Education.

“Teachers are being forced to make students take tests as a means of making money ," she said . " Companies, such as Pearson, are selling education packages that do not allow students to think out side of the box,” said Croso, adding that “It is important that education workers get all the support they need to provide quality education.”
