Latin American Pedagogical Movement in Honduras

From 22-24 September, Combertty Rodriguez, Gabriela Sancho and Gabriel Castro from the EI Latin America (EILA) regional office attended a Latin American Pedagogical Movement national meeting in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. President of the EILA Regional Committee Hugo Yasky was also present.

Latin American Pedagogical Movement in Uruguay

From 28-30 September, the three EILA regional office members attended a South America sub-regional meeting of the Latin America Pedagogical Movement in Montevideo, Uruguay. Hugo Yasky and EILA Regional Committee Vice-President Fátima Silva were also present.

Support to the ‘Yes for peace in Colombia’ campaign

From 26 September-1 October, the EILA regional office produced a visual campaign to support the ‘Yes for peace in Colombia’ campaign. This was sent out to all affiliates to be shared with their members.

Education Unions’ Congresses in Argentina

From 5-9 October, Combertty Rodriguez attended the Congresses of the Confederación de Educadores Argentinos and the Federación Nacional de Docentes Universitarios.

Higher Education Meeting in Colombia

Combertty Rodriguez travelled to Medellín for a meeting on higher education organised by the Asociación Sindical de Profesores Universitarios from 13-14 October.

EILA Region’s Global Response Campaign Planning in Costa Rica

From 19-21 October, leaders of 16 member organisations from 11 countries in the EILA region participated in deeper national and region-wide planning to confront the growing commercialisation and privatisation of education. The campaign planning, supported by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, was informed by the preliminary findings of research investigating privatisation across the region. The research, by Mauro Mosschetti, Clara Fontdevila, and Antoni Verger, will be released in early 2017. Fátima Silva, Angelo Gavrielatos, and Nicolás Richards represented EI.
