EI General Secretary takes the Harvard stage

Fred van Leeuwen, Education International’s General Secretary, has held a lecture at Harvard University on the challenges faced by teachers in the 21st century.

Under the general theme of ‘The new unionism and the profession’, van Leeuwen spoke about the role of teacher unions in the shaping of today’s teaching profession. He stressed the importance of reforms that are taking place in several parts of the world as part of a joint effort to achieve quality education for all.

Van Leeuwen was invited to hold the lecture by professor Pasi Sahlberg, Professor of Practice at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Fernando Reimers, Professor of Practice in International Education and Director of Global Education and of International Education Policy at Harvard University.
