Nigeria: 500 Days - Chibok Parents continue search for Daughters

published 27 August 2015 updated 28 August 2015

As 27 August marks the 500th day since 273 Nigerian school girls were kidnapped, Education International and concerned citizens the world over continue to put pressure on the Nigerian Government.

The girls were kidnapped by the extremist group Boko Haram at the Chibok government secondary school on 14 April 2014.

Professor Hauwa Abdu Biu, spokesperson of the BAOBAB For Women's Human Rights, indicated that the Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and the Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima may be invited to Chibok to show their sympathy with the abducted schoolgirls' parents.

EI: safe teaching and learning environments

Education International (EI) urges the Nigerian public authorities to work toward the safe return of these girls.

With 10.5 million children remaining out of school in Nigeria, EI echoes the importance of every child being afforded the opportunity of education in a safe learning environment.
